Smoky Mountain River Rat is located in the heart of Townsend, Tennessee, home to some of the best river tubing in the world. Townsend, Tennessee is a quaint Southern city in Blount County, Tennessee with a small population of people with huge hearts. Townsend identifies itself as “The Peaceful Side of the Smokies,” and that’s just the feeling we hope you’ll get when you come to tube with the Smoky Mountain River Rat. Townsend is quiet and has the least traffic of the three main entrances to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. From Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge
Go to traffic light #3 in Pigeon Forge and turn south onto US-321/Wears Valley Road. Continue to follow US-321 for about 15 miles and Smoky Mountain River Rat will be on the right side of the road before you cross over the Little River. Look for the YELLOW tubes!
From Maryville & Knoxville
Head north on US-321/North Lamar Alexander Parkway for 17 miles. Once in Townsend, look for the first traffic light and take a left onto Wears Valley Road. Smoky Mountain River Rat is on your left, just over the bridge. Look for the YELLOW tubes.
