Shannon and Shannan Skidmore
Shannon and Shannan Skidmore are both East Tennessee natives. Graduating from high school and college together, they were married in 1996. The couple have two children, Emily- Kate and Joseph. After 15 years in the tubing business on the Little River in Townsend at Smoky Mountain River Rat, the Shannons decided to expand their knowledge of the river and customer service to include the more adventurous side of the Smokies. Tubing and white water rafting seemed like the perfect match, adding more options for their faithful tubing customers. While USA Raft has been rafting the Eastern Rivers of the United States for decades, including the Pigeon River since 1993, the Skidmores became co owners of River Rat Whitewater Oupost in 2007.
Wayne and Jennifer Duerer
Wayne and Jennifer Duerer joined the Skidmores as partners of River Rat in 2009. Wayne was a member of the corporate world. Feeling the time was right, he took the plunge into the world of the self employed. Jennifer is Mrs. Shannan’s sister. When younger, she had worked for the River Rat, even managing an outpost. With Wayne’s HR and accounting experience and Jennifer’s family ties to the Rat, the Pigeon River outpost is now complete. The Duerers are proud parents of two young daughters, Sophia and Isabel.
