Named after Lem Ownby, a honey farmer and the last lifetime lease holder in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, we are here to greet visitors with the same enthusiasm for these mountains as he did. We are a non-profit, Christian Retreat Center, which houses the home office for Children’s Bible Ministries, Inc. We offer seven cabins/lodges of varying sizes, sleeping from 2-40 guests! Tuckaleechee Caverns in Townsend is known as the “Greatest Site Under the Smokies” with the highest-rated Cave/Cavern in the Eastern United States. Tuckaleechee Caverns is also proud to have the tallest underground waterfall in the E. United States, “Silver Falls”, which is a 210ft, two-tier waterfall. The “Big Room” is the largest cave/cavern room that is open to the public. This cavern is spacious enough to almost fit an entire football stadium. Many stalagmites reach over 24ft tall with flow-stone formations over hundreds of feet in length and width.
