Take a hike! Chances are, if you’ve ever heard or said those words it wasn’t in the most pleasant circumstances. But there is a place where those three words can bring a smile and a whole lot of fun!
Take a hike…in the Smoky Mountains! A trip down the Pigeon River with Smoky Mountain Whitewater will give you breathtaking views of the Smokies from the water; but a hike in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers an experience like none other. Gaze up through the thick canopy, hear the music of the forest, smell the rich soil, get up close and personal with the Smoky Mountain backcountry as you travel through a land rich in beauty and history.
Smoky Mountain Whitewater has partnered with Smoky Mountain Guides to offer an incredible overnight guided hike through the Smoky Mountain backcountry. This trip features a hike along Big Creek River, with plenty of opportunities for swim breaks as you make your way up a moderate incline on an old logging bed to your camp for the evening. Your night at camp promises to be unlike any camping trip you’ve ever experienced, especially the evening meal: your guide will prepare and serve a gourmet backcountry meal! With dinner, equipment and camp set-up all taken care of by your guide, you will be free to enjoy all your Smoky Mountain paradise has to offer! Day two will feature your return hike and, of course, lots of excitement as you brave the rapids with River Rat Whitewater on the Pigeon River! Honestly, my words cannot do justice to all this trip has to offer. One thing is certain, you will never have a sleepover quite like this anywhere else!
If an overnighter is not quite your thing, we have other great day hike options that offer just as many chances for taking in the sights and going for a dip in some fun swimming holes. And once you’ve gotten a taste of hiking in the Smokies, you’ll definitely be ready for more. Here are some fantastic options for more hiking adventures:
