Clingmans Dome
Clingmans Dome is actually the highest point in all of Tennessee at 6,643 feet. Once you’ve made the trek to the top, you can see over 100 miles in all directions, so you can imagine how gorgeous a sight the sunset is from here. You can find this view right at the border of Tennessee and North Carolina just south of Gatlinburg.

The hike up to Max Patch is very easy and can be completed quickly. Max Patch is unique because you can see a breathtaking view of the sunset and the sunrise. When camping out at Max Patch, you are on a fairly flat stretch of land that is surrounded by beautiful mountains. This popular sunset spot is also located near the Tennessee and North Carolina border but is northeast of Gatlinburg.
High Ground Park
This park is located in South Knoxville. For the most part, the trail to the view of the sunset is paved and easy. You will hang a right at the first fork in the trail, and the rest of the way is up to you, but it is guaranteed you will land at an awesome viewing spot. Not only will you get an amazing view of the sunset, but you will also have a beautiful view of the city of Knoxville. Plus, this park has swings you can use to further enjoy your time at sunset.
